Still here

I'm still here, however, very far away in a corner of the universe I call 'sans-internetopia'.
Nearly three weeks ago my boyfriend and I moved into a new house and since then we have been without internet. In fact, we are still without internet but we have escaped this foreign, disconnected land and travelled to our hometown Byron Bay, with internet!
It honestly feels strange using my computer. Typing feels unfamiliar. Not being able to blog frustrated me, with only my iPhone connection to connect me to the cyber world. Not all was/is bad however. I got back into my love of reading, which I'm sure you all know is hindered somewhat by the overpowering, mind-numbing and time-eating thing called the World Wide Web. I've now promised myself to read a book a week, even when our internet finally gets connected next Thursday.
So really, being disconnected from that safe, constant internet force is yes, annoying in some ways but also incredibly refreshing. It's even as far as detoxing. My mind feels much more peaceful and less filled with brain fuzz. I do urge you guys to try and go without internet for a while and see what happens. The creative side you never thought you had may emerge, you'll read those books you bought but never started, appreciate the quiet and free time, and become more in touch with yourself and your own ideas, rather than all the crap that is pushed into your mind every time you open your web browser.

Anyway, I hope every one is well. I'll be with internet late next week and will get back into blogging on a regular basis pronto (making sure the internet doesn't swallow me whole, of course). Here are some instagram photos of what's been going on these past absent weeks.

Take care!

  1. Lovely photographs...I don't know if I could survive without internet for that long but I'm sure I would get a lot more done without it! I may try a weekend without it...there's so many books I want to finish and the only time I put aside for it is before I go to sleep! Lovely post...looking forward to the next one!

  4. Nice photos's :). And great point you have their on the www thing. I agree, by looking at my own internet 'behaviour' I can say it replaces nice things such as reading a book, ramble your thoughts on a piece of paper or even listen to music and let your thoughts go. Maybe I will try to invest my time in something else then the world wide web. It must be refreshing!

  11. lovely images. Sometimes the most simple photos can illustrate the sweet lifestyle of others. Your lifestyle seems like a dream. I really embraced having no internet 2 Januarys ago when I just read and drew pictures on a holiday with my (now :[ ) ex boyfriend's family. Just the valleys, farm and creek. What divine and now sad memories :(

  14. Dear, i totally get you. I understand you soo well. Being overseas for three months and away from the constant flow of social networking...it was incredible and frightening...I have only been back two weeks now and am struggling to continue blogging though I know I really want to! BUT the plus side is creativity and definitely finding time to read! The shots are gorgeous though doll....looks like it has been well worth the absence of internet! goodluck with your new home darl! xx
