Instagram Diaries

I have been quite hesitant about using instagram (trying to replace the unbeatable film camera, oh no), but now that I've played around with it I now realise how nice it is to capture little things I have done or seen or felt throughout the day as a means of recording my life. It's quite interesting.
So I'm thinking of doing regular posts entitled 'Instagram Diaries' to show you what's been going on without me writing many paragraphs on it. It seems like a nicer, quieter way to express the happenings of life. I hope you enjoy them.
Dinner with friends, packing (yes we finally found a house and we move in on Monday!),  driving home to Byron for the weekend with R, wearing my red socks in our cosy bed, pretty roses on the table, sheer curtains in the morning, portrait in the mirror, and writing back to your lovely comments and writing in my journal.

As I just mentioned, on Monday my boyfriend and I are moving into our new house! It's taken a month of stress but it's finally paid off. I'll be keeping you updated with photos of before/after and decorating (hello, IKEA my old friend). Mind you we won't have internet for at least a few days so I'll be replying to comments on my phone.

Germany Part V

It feels like so long ago now... Experiences fade quickly, don't they?

Cabin Fever & Apologies

It's been pelting down rain for about 5 days straight now. It was a beautiful change to the humid summer days we were having, but now it's at that point where everything feels damp, even wet.
It would be nice if the sun could come out through the clouds for just a moment to remind me that he is still up there, but alas the clouds merely bring more heavy drops. Nevertheless, it's great for sleeping!
A bit of an update: I'm sure you've noticed ever since I returned from overseas my blog has been mainly photo posts and lacking the fashion element, aside from the occasional interior design and outfit. The reason for this is due to my boyfriend and I having to look for a house to live in. House hunting is fun for the first few days but then quickly changes to a mundane and saddening task as you walk into houses that disappoint, or walk into beautiful houses which you apply for but don't get approved.. Long story short, after nearly a month of looking at houses everyday, countless forms and photo copies, high levels of stress among other life's ups and downs, we have been approved for a place! This counts for a smiley face :)
It's a quaint Queenslander type house in a quiet area near the uni, and we sign the lease today and move in on Monday.
So what I wanted to say is I'm sorry for not being very 'present' here on this blog recently, and please bear with me -- after we move in (and get an internet connection!) I will be back to posting properly.
Thank you all for being such amazing followers. I may not have thousands but the ones that do follow I truly love.
Here are some instagram photos of what I've been doing between the stress; reading, drinking tea and sleeping.
I'm relatively new to instagram and would love to follow people from blogspot

I guess I can't have an instagram photo set without at least one vain self portrait haha.

Another instalment of photos from Germany! I hope you're still enjoying them.

Germany Part III

Another part in my photos from Germany. Looking at these photos makes me miss it so much!
Right now in Australia it is stinking hot. For example, the other day was 39 degrees celsius. My body is still in winter-mode, and so you can imagine that this feels like the fiery pits of hell. Not to worry, I own a fan so for solace I like to stick my face right in front of it. It works for perhaps a minute and once I stand up again fire-like air engulfs me. Ever so jealous of those who have air con.

Lazy Monday

Spending my Sunday morning catching up on sleep and issues of Russh. I truly love simplicity. Being relaxed and feeling peaceful is the best state to be in... At least for a while anyway until it becomes flat.

Photo by me. Check out my photography site here.

Germany Part II

Here is the second set of photos! These were taken on a day trip to the aquarium. I think it's incredibly calming watching those animals swim through the water. May I add that I spent about 15 minutes straight staring perplexed at one jelly fish bobbing in its lone, empty tank. Amazing. The last photo was taken on the bus I took every day to get to and from the city. It's blurry but for some reason I like it. I hope that you do too, x.

The Selby

I think if I wasn't studying journalism/writing I would become an interior designer. This may come off as creepy, but the inside of a person's home fascinates me. A home says a great deal about a person. How their books and cd's are arranged, the shape(s) and variety of their tea mugs, the colour of the walls, their lovely personal trinkets, the smell, the photos or paintings that hang on their walls - it all gives such a personal insight into one's life and experiences, and I love the way that this can be expressed through colours, arrangements and items.
So as you can imagine, I adore interior websites, one of my favourite being The Selby by Todd Selby. In essence, "The Selby offers an insider’s view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist's eye for detail." Perfect, right? The posts dedicated to the interior's of creative souls feature many many photos to appease your interior design cravings and the neatest interviews at the bottom, which are all hand written and drawn by both the interviewer and the interviewee! You must have a look.
Somewhat related to house interiors, in the next month my boyfriend and I will be moving out of our share house and (hopefully) into an empty house, and, although I don't want to get my hopes up because successfully finding and being accepted a house is relatively difficult as students, I am very much looking forward to making it my home with all the things I have mentioned earlier. I'm seeing minimalistic furniture mixed with recycled & rustic pieces, photographs on the walls, lots of trinkets and books on lots of book shelves, scented candles everywhere, long chiffon curtains... Dammit, now I'm really excited!
Enjoy the inspiration!

Germany Part I

The first part of photos from my amazing trip to Germany.
One morning I woke up, went to the kitchen to make myself a hot cup of milky tea, and in the corner of my eye I saw a blanket of white through the window. Excited like a child on Christmas, I looked outside to see a magical snowy wonderland. I have seen snow before, but every time I see that white world my heart flutters. So here are some photos I took while my mum and I walked around my family's place. Just imagine my face the whole time we walked haha.

I returned from a winter wonderland

Firstly, Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and safely celebrated into the new year.
After a beautiful wintry month in Germany with my family I'm back in the humid but homely Australia. It is nice to be back, but I already miss Europe and its unrivalled culture, fashion, sophistication, and of course, my family. And yes, I even miss the icy weather. I can't believe I'm saying it, but it's true.
In the few days I've been back I have ever so slowly unpacked my suitcase (What I Bought post coming soon), tried to surpass my jetlag, rejoiced the time I now have again with my boyfriend, and started a new health regime in which I have cut out bad sugars, bad carbs and bad fats. Please note I am not changing my diet to lose weight, but to simply be and feel healthy and improve my not-so-great skin without crazy medication. So be gone processed food and welcome fresh summer fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, lean meat, beans and nuts.
During the month that I was not able to access internet, I truly missed blogging and cannot wait to get back into it. I am now starting to reply to all your kind comments and new followers.
I will upload photos of my trip as soon as I can. x
